In compliance with the No Surprises Act, which has been effective since January 1, 2022, healthcare providers are required to notify clients of their federal rights and protections against unexpected charges related to medical or mental health care, aka “surprise billing."
The No Surprises Act requires that we inform clients who are either uninsured or who do not intend to submit claims to their insurance for partial reimbursement, both orally and in writing, of their federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by an out-of-network provider. This policy, and the subsequent receipt of a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services, does not apply to clients who opt to receive Superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.
If you qualify, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate from your provider, which will capture an estimated cost up to 12 months of therapeutic services, no later than 1-3 business days after your first appointment.
Major changes in your treatment plan (increased or decreased session frequency, or rate changes- assessed annually) will require a new GFE to be calculated and signed.
Nouveau Psychological Wellness, PLLC and its affiliates do not participate with any insurance plan; therefore, we are considered out-of-network providers. This means that our clients must pay us directly for services rendered, and in most cases/if applicable to their specific plans, they are able to submit a claim to their insurance provider to obtain partial reimbursement for these services directly from the insurance company.
As you may anticipate, it is often difficult to determine the length of treatment for mental health care. Each client has different needs, and different goals for treatment. Ultimately, each client maintains the right to decide how long they would like to participate in mental health care, based in part by the recommendation of their provider. As such, the Good Faith Estimate you will receive will include a detailed fee schedule for the services typically offered by your therapist within the recommended frequency and/or length of these services. This is an estimate, based on services provided between 40 and 45 weeks per calendar year (a year is 52 weeks).
In accordance with the No Surprises Act, if you receive a bill for services, that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate you can dispute the bill.
